Cala Boix

Cala Boix or Cala de Boix (“cove of the box”) is situated at five kilometres from Sant Carles de Peralta, between es Caló Roig and Cap Roig, as well as next to the village of Sant Jordi.

This u-shaped sea inlet is not developed and it finishes on a beach which is not too big and which has fine-grained dark sand. There is a sort of headland at the rear, which you have to pass on some steep stairs in the rocks, to reach this beach, so that the access is impossible for disabled or elderly people.

This sandy area is open to the wind from the southeast-south-southwest due to the fact that it is an open bay, but it is sheltered from the wind from the north and west. The sandy ground, except on the left side where there are some rocks, has a very gentle slope (at 25 metres from the coast there is a depth of two metres). The navigator is recommended to anchor at one hectometre from the coast.

The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations. The private car can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings and the last part is on a track. You can also reach this beach with the public transport or by bicycle. The nearest bus stop is located at Sant Carles de Peralta, at one hour.

These characteristics explain that the beach is not too crowded by tourists.
