Cala Llenya




Cala Llenya (“cove of the wood”) is situated at 10 kilometres from Santa Eulària des Riu, between Cala Nova and Punta d'en Ribes, as well as next to the village of Can Jordi. The name is given by the thick pine wood which surrounds this natural setting and nearly reaches the coastline.

This u-shaped sea inlet finishes on a triangular beach with fine-grained golden sand. At the rear you can find a thick pine wood and the dry Torrent des Coix, as well as a track, a bit hidden by the vegetation that takes you to the nearby Cala Nova, where there is one of the best camping places of Eivissa.

This sandy area has clear water and the slope is not too steep (at 15 metres from the coast there is a depth of one metre). It is open to the wind from the east which is quite strong, and which normally blows from the sea and makes the swell grow a lot. These conditions explain that you have to be very careful if you want to swim or anchor a boat on the sandy ground. The nearest port facilities are located at Club Nàutic des Canar.

Aguas Blancas


s'Aigua Blanca oo Aigües Blanques beach (“white water”) is situated at four kilometres from Sant Carles de Peralta, located between es Paller des Camp and es Roig. This sandy area is officially declared as nudist beach and it has an excellent panoramic view which goes from Illa Tagomago (south) to Punta Grossa (north).

The name is given by the colour of the water, a result of the foam produced by the swell reaching the coast, which is higher than in any other beach of Eivissa, due to the fact that it is very open and exposed to the wind from the east, especially during the summer.
On the other hand, the slope of this beach is very gentle, at 50 metres from the coast there is a depth of only two metres.

This is a very open and quite big bay which has fine-grained golden sand. It is surrounded by steep cliffs and rocks, so that the access is quite difficult and the area is not very developed. The proximity of these cliffs to the coastline explains that the shade comes quite early.

Pou Des Lleo


Pou des Lleó (“the well of the lion”) or Canal d'en Martí is situated at five kilometres from Sant Carles de Peralta, located between Punta d'en Valls, where there is the tower with the same name which used to prevent from the dangerous pirate attacks, and Punta Verda, as well as net to the village of es Figueral. From its coast you can see isla de Tagomago (Àrea Natural d'Especial Interès and former shelter for berberisc pirates).

This beautiful rectangular sea inlet finishes on a very small cove, with a surface of sand and seaweed, whereas at the rear you can find some escars (typical dry docks) as well as scrubland vegetation.

This beach has an orientation toward northeast and it is open to the wind from this direction, blowing from the sea and reaching sometimes an important strength. The sandy areas are combined to the rocky areas with seaweed. These underwater particularities and the transparency of the water invite you to dive on the surface.

This natural setting is full of legends. Some say that it might have been the entrance of an artificial Punic port in the coast or of a small coastal lake which might be used as jetty.

Cala Boix


Cala Boix or Cala de Boix (“cove of the box”) is situated at five kilometres from Sant Carles de Peralta, between es Caló Roig and Cap Roig, as well as next to the village of Sant Jordi.

This u-shaped sea inlet is not developed and it finishes on a beach which is not too big and which has fine-grained dark sand. There is a sort of headland at the rear, which you have to pass on some steep stairs in the rocks, to reach this beach, so that the access is impossible for disabled or elderly people.

This sandy area is open to the wind from the southeast-south-southwest due to the fact that it is an open bay, but it is sheltered from the wind from the north and west. The sandy ground, except on the left side where there are some rocks, has a very gentle slope (at 25 metres from the coast there is a depth of two metres). The navigator is recommended to anchor at one hectometre from the coast.

Cala Mastella


Cala Mastella is situated at 4,8 kilometres from Sant Carles de Peralta, between Punta d'en Ribes and es Caló Roig, as well as next to the village of Can Jordi.

This rectangular, narrow and closed sea inlet finishes on a beach with fine-grained clear sand, and it is very small. It is surrounded by a thick pine wood and by very steep rocks on the sides, whereas the rear is the mouth of the Torrent Socarrat when it rains. There is a small wetland with cane and reeds in the surroundings.

On the right side there is a trail that takes you to the nearby Cala Llenya. On the natural breakwater of the opposite side there is a trail that takes to a good restaurant.

This sandy area has a gentle slope (at 40 metres from the coast there is a depth of only two metres) on a sandy ground next to the coast. Nevertheless as the distance to the coast gets bigger, the rocks appear, covered by seaweed at about 6 to 12 metres. These underwater conditions invite you to dive, even on the surface.

Cala Nova


Cala Nova is situated at six kilometres from Santa Eulària des Riu, between Esculls (“reefs”) des Canar (the navigator is recommended to avoid passing between this coast and the reef with his boat) and Cala Llenya, as well as next to the nearby village of La Joya.
This beautiful isolated and virgin sea inlet is divided into two bays which are both not too big. At the rear, at about three hectometres, there is one of the best camping places of Eivissa, as well as a thick pine wood that surrounds the coast.

This coastal track has fine-grained golden sand, and the slope is quite gentle (at 50 metres from the coast there is a depth of only two metres).

Es Canar



Es Canar is situated at 4,5 kilometres from Santa Eulària des Riu, located between Club Punta Arabí, where on Wednesdays there is the best hippie market of Eivissa, and Esculls des Canar, as well as nearby the village of es Canar and La Joya. From its coast you can see Esculls d'en Racó and the small islands sa Galera and Illa des Canar.

This frequented u-shaped sea inlet is quit big, the beach has fine-grained white sand and there is a promenade with plants along the coastline of this beach.

This sandy area is developed, there are residential and tourist buildings, the water is transparent and it is open to the wind from the east which blows normally from the sea and is not too strong. These conditions explain that es Canar is excellent if you want to do sailing sports.

The biggest part of its ground is sandy, although there are also some areas with seaweed and it has a quite gentle slope (at 20 metres from the coast there is a depth of more than two metres). Next to this bay you can find the port facilities (fishing and marina).

Sargamassa


S'Argamassa is situated at 3,5 kilometres from Santa Eulària des Riu, located between Cala Prada-en Marcús and Ca na Marina, as well as next to the village with the same name. From the coastline you can see the islands and small islands of en Caragoler, en Moreneller, Illa Rodona and Illa de Santa Eulària or Illa Gran.

This coastal stretch is comfortable and calm, and it is formed by some coves which follow each other and which are very small. The beach has a substract of sand and the slope is quite gentle (at 50 metres from the coast there is a depth of only two metres).

These small coves with transparent water are open to the wind from the south, which normally blows from the sea and which is quite moderate.

The sand and the rocky areas are covered by seaweed on the ground, so that diving on surface is recommended. The nearest port facilities are located at Port Esportiu Santa Eulària des Riu.

Es Recó de s'Alga


Es Recó de s'Alga is situated at one kilometre from Santa Eulària des Riu, located between puntes de s'Aguait and des Nedador, as well as next to the village of Siesta.

This quiet, comfortable, safe and small sandy area is semicircular. The ground is covered by quite fine-grained golden sand. The left side is used as a jetty and solarium, whereas the right one protects this coastal track from the swell and as access to the sea for those visitors who don't like the sand.

This beach has an orientation toward northeast. It is open to the wind from the south-southeast, from gentle to moderate and it has a gentle slope (at 40 metres from the coast there is a depth of only one and a half metres). The sand and some area of underwater vegetation characterize the marine ground of es Recó de s'Alga.

From this sandy area you can walk on a trail along the coast in order to see the surroundings of this place, like Punta Blanca (the nearest one), Cala Blanca, Punta Roja, Cala Llonga and Salt d'en Serrà (the longest distance).

Cala Pada


Cala Pada is situated at 3,2 kilometres from Santa Eulària des Riu, located between es Niu Blau-s'Estanyol and en Marcús-Cala s'Argamassa, as well as between the villages of Can Sansó and Punta Arabí.

This quiet and comfortable u-shaped sea inlet is quite big, it has clear fine-grained sand, the slope is gentle (at 35 metres from the coast there is a depth of only two metres) and a breakwater that divides the beach into two parts and is used as a jetty.

This sandy area with transparent water is open to the wind from the south-east, which normally blows from the sea and is quite moderate.

The biggest part of the bay is sandy, where you are recommended to dive on the surface. The nearest port facilities are located at Port Esportiu de Santa Eulària des Riu.

These natural characteristics explain that it is a quiet coastal corner and the ideal safe beach for families with children. Cala Pada is not too crowded by local visitors and tourists. Cala Martina


Cala Martina or Ca na Martina is situated at four kilometres from Santa Eulària des Riu, located between Cala s'Argamassa and Cala Gat, as well as next to the village of s'Argamassa. From its coast you can see the islands and small islands of en Caragoler, en Moreneller, Illa Rodona and Illa de Santa Eulària or Illa Gran. You can reach these places by boat, the red coral and the caves are very popular amongst the divers. On the beach you can also see these creations of nature.

This u-shaped sea inlet is quite big, the beach has fine-grained clear sand and the slope is gentle (at 30 metres from the coast there is a depth of only 1,8 metres).

This sandy area is developed and it has transparent water. It is open to the wind from the south which normally blows from the sea and is quite moderate. These conditions explain that Ca na Martina is an excellent coastal stretch for sailing sports.

Cala Llonga


Cala Llonga is situated at four kilometres from Santa Eulària des Riu, between s'Escull de Llibrell and Punta Roja, as well as below Cap des Llibrell (222 metres above the sea level) and Puig Marina (243 metres high). It gives also the name to the nearby village and at two hectometres from the beach there is a camping area.

This spectacular round and u-shaped sea inlet continues for 700 metres between abrupt and steep cliffs, and it finishes on a wide sandy area with fine-grained white sand. The slope is gentle (at 25 metres from the coast there is a depth of only 1,1 metres and at 70 two hectometres). The orientation is toward east, and the wind blows very gentle from the sea.
The morphological characteristics makes it sheltered from the swell in the interior, so that this beach is good for swimming, as well as for sailing sports and diving or anchoring boats but only during the day, if the water is calm, between the middle (the depth ranges from five to 10 metres) and the entrance (16 metres deep) of this sea inlet on a sandy ground with seaweed.

Es Caló de s'Illa


Es Caló de s'Illa is situated at seven kilometres from Sant Joan de Labritja, located between es Pas and Cova de s'Orenga, as well as below Puig de Guixar (189 metres high). This u-shaped small, isolated and virgin sea inlet belongs to the coastal area of the northern Eivissa, known as es Amunts, which includes the steepest area and the highest mounts of the Pitiüses. These mountains are distributed in an irregular way along this territory and the result are the large valleys like Pla de Corona and Pla d'Albarca, which concentrate the most popular agricultural land of Eivissa.

This coastal corner is surrounded by some quite high cliffs with pine woods on the top. From the coastline you can see different rocks, like s'Escull and sa Paella, as well as the small island Illa d'en Calder. The people who like coast and underwater fishing or diving on the surface or with oxygen love this area. It is not very crowded.

The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations. The last part has to be done on a sandy track in bad conditions which is not easy to find. This is the reason why you are recommended to park your private car at about ten minutes from the beach. Then you have to follow the arrow painted on the floor of this trail with blue spray.

Cala Imatge


Cala Imatge is situated at seven kilometres from Sant Joan de Labritja, located in the interior of Cala Portinatx, between s'Arenal Petit and Punta de sa Torre or des Marès, as well as next to the village of Portinatx (most important touristy centre in the area of es Amunts, which in the surroundings has still some of the wildest and thickest pine woods of Eivissa).

The puntas Galera and de sa Torre are the sides at the entrance of Cala Portinatx, in the interior of which there are some coves, and this one is the fourth. The external area of Cala Portinatx is an excellent place for sailing sports.

This sea inlet is characterized by being surrounded by medium-high cliffs, on the top of which you can see some pine trees and buildings, as well as by a very small size, u-shaped, a surface covered with sand and rocks and the access is done through the touristy buildings in the surroundings. the beach is not very crowded by tourists. The ground is sandy, with rocks and seaweed on the sides and toward the interior, which invite you to dive.

The navigator is recommended to anchor his boat in the principal bay, because it is bigger and safer, on a sandy ground with seaweed, where the depth ranges from four to 15 metres.

Benirras


Cala or Port de Benirràs is situated at 7,5 kilometres from Sant Miquel de Balansat, located between the Punta de Cova de s'Orenga and Blanca, as well as below Puig des Guixar (189 metres high).

This deep and virgin u-shaped sea inlet finishes on a beach which is not too big, with golden sand, gentle slope, which is perfect for children and elderly people, and it is surrounded by cliffs on the top of which you can see a thick pine wood. The water is transparent.

The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good in the summer, because the wind from the east blows quite gently. But if the wind blows from the west-northeast this coastal corner becomes dangerous as anchorage. This beautiful sea inlet has a small island in the entrance which you have to avoid, and in the interior there is a depth that ranges from six to 12 metres on a sandy ground with seaweed.

From Cala Benirràs you can walk along a trail which goes from this beach to the adjacent Port de Sant Miquel and which passes the cave Cova de Can Marçà, which is really beautiful for speleology and used as a shelter by the smugglers.

Cala Xarraca


Cala Xarraca is situated at 3,6 kilometres from Portinatx, located between the illots (small islands) des Rencli and de sa Mesquida, as well as below the Puig de sa Xarraca (231 metres high).

The puntas de sa Torre and Xarraca are the limits of the entrance to Badia de Cala Xarraca, and in the interior there are several caves, from which we are now describing the third one.
The coast is characterized by the fact that it is not too big; the sand is quite fine-grained and golden, there are cliffs in the surroundings, with pine trees, scrubland and some residential and touristy buildings, as well as excellent panoramic views. There is a reef with a sharp profile in the central area of this u-shaped sea inlet; the slope is very steep, except in the area of the rock emerging from the marine ground. This ground is sandy in front of the coast and the water is crystal clear.

The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring of boats are not very good in the interior. If you wish to anchor you have to be careful with the rocks and you are recommended to stay next to the nearby Illot de sa Mesquida, where the depth ranges from six to eight metres on a sandy and rocky ground with seaweed.

Portinatx




Port de Portinatx, Cala des Portinatx or Portinatx is located next to the village with the same name. The Punta Galera and de sa Torre or des Marès are the sides of the entrance to Cala Portinatx, in the interior of which there are several small coves, and this is the first one of them. The external area is an excellent place for sailing sports.

The beach is very sheltered and it is the end of a narrow sea inlet. On the left side there was an old shelter for the seamen of the village Cas Mallorquí, a marina and hotels.

The beach is quite small and the orientation is toward east, with golden quite fine-grained sand, the slope is very gentle (at 40 metres from the coast there is a depth of less than two metres). The gentle wind blows normally toward the sea.


The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are not safe in the interior, because it is not very deep in the entrance (between four and six metres) until the coast. You are recommended to anchor on a sandy ground with seaweed and rocks at a depth that ranges from four to 15 metres, in the bigger Cala Portinatx.

Cala San Vicente


Cala Sant Vicent, Cala Maians or sa Cala is situated at 10 kilometres from Sant Joan de Labritja, located between es Roig and Punta Grossa or Cap des Llamp, as well as next to the village with the same name. In the surroundings there is sa Cove des Cuieram, a Punic sanctuary in honour to the divinity Tánit (5th century BC).

This enormous u-shaped sea inlet finishes on a beach with fine-grained golden sand. There are touristy buildings and a green valley irrigated by Torrent de sa Cala and one of the biggest and best preserved pine woods of Eivissa at the rear.

This beautiful sandy area which has excellent panoramic views has a gentle slope (at 30 metres from the coast there is a depth of only two metres), and orientation toward southeast and an exposition to the wind from the east-southeast-south, normally blowing gently from the sea.

The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good on a sandy ground, sheltered from the air currents from the north and west. In the entrance there is a depth of 18 metres and at 150 metres from the coast it reduces to seven. The navigator has to know that there are some rocks at 20 metres from the coast and at a depth of 1,2 metres.

S'illot d'en Rencli


S'Illot d'en Rencli is situated at three kilometres from Portinatx, located between the coves Xuclà and Xarraca, as well as below the Puig de sa Xarraca. This beach has its name given by the small island which can be seen from this coastal corner, with a rich underwater ecosystem and an excellent place for diving.

The puntas de sa Torre and Xarraca are the limits on the sides of the entrance to Badia de Cala Xarraca, in the interior of which there are several coves, and we are now describing the second one.

The coast is characterized by being more open to the bay and by the small size. The beach has quite fine-grained golden sand, surrounded by some rocky cliffs, on the top of which there is scrubland, it has a gentle slope (at 20 metres from the coast there is a depth of 1,5 metres).

The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good on a sandy ground in the centre and a rocky ground on the sides, with a depth that ranges from two to three metres. The navigator has also to be careful with the small island.

Caló d'en Serra


Caló d'en Serra is situated at three kilometres from Portinatx, located between Port de Portinatx and Punta d'en Gat, as well as below Puig de sa Caperulla (308 metres high).
This u-shaped sea inlet finishes on a very small beach with quite fine-grained golden sand in the central area, and gravel or rocks on the sides surrounded by cliffs. You will also find scrubland and pine trees in this beautiful coastal corner.

This quiet cove has an orientation toward east. The wind blows normally gently from the sea. This is a result of the situation of this abrupt beach. The slope is also very gently which makes bathing in the transparent water easy. The ground is covered by sand and rocks with seaweed. If you swim along the right side you will reach another beautiful cove, which can't be seen and which can only be reaches on the sea way.
