Cala Bassa
Cala Bassa (Blue Flag 2010) is situated at nine kilometres from Sant Antoni de Portmany, located between es Penyal, which belongs to the Àrea Natural d'Especial Interès ses Platges des Comte and Cap de la Bassa.
This beautiful beach is characterized by being a sea inlet with an irregular coastline, surrounded by low cliffs and pine trees. The beach is quite big, the sand fine-grained and golden, and the orientation is toward northwest. The wind blows gently from the sea , it has crystal clear quiet water, and the slope is very gentle (at 50 metres from the coast there is a depth of one and a half metres), as well as good touristy facilities.
The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good, as well as for diving. There are two anchorages, one in the west, at two hectometres from the sandy area, on a seaweed ground where the depth is 12 metres, as well as in the east, in a rocky bay, on a ground of rocks and seaweed, there the depth ranges from eight to 15 metres.
The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations. The private car can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings. You can also reach this beach with the public transport. The nearest bus stop is located at 50 metres. There is also a camping area in the surroundings.
These characteristics explain that the beach is very crowded by local visitors and tourists.
