Sankeys

Sankeys Ibiza, a new club in Playa D’en Bossa opened last summer in a venue that has been plagued with failures, but Sankeys has managed to change it’s luck and had an excellent first season, bringing something new and vibrant to Playa D’en Bossa. Already hugely successful with their Manchester nightclub (voted number 1 club in the world in 2010), Sankeys came to the white isle for the first time ever, and they’re here to stay.

The club is located in arguably the most exciting part of Ibiza – Playa d’en Bossa, home to the legendary Space, Bora Bora, and Ushuaia making Playa D’en Bossa a must-visit for anyone staying in the other parts of the island. The club is slightly hidden from the main strip and the only give-away of it’s presence is from the thousands of Sankeys stickers stuck to everything and anything, and a cryptic sign on top of the lime green venue.

You’re able to chill out on the Sankeys Terrace or get down and party in the basement in the new venue. A Vibrant music policy brings incredibly varied and forward thinking line ups. The Funktion 1 sound system is far too powerful for the size of the venue, but it’s absolutely amazing and by far the best sound to be heard in Ibiza. The basement reminds me of the Sankeys in Manchester and that’s a good thing, there’s a small VIP area, but the rest of the club has a very honest and underground feel to it.

Sankeys had a great first year for music, with Monza moving from their previous home to the new club. Ferry Corsten and friends started Full on Ferry bringing some underground trance to the island – something which none of the other clubs cater for. Carnival and UK promoter Kinky Malinki finished off the line-up for the new club.

The drinks prices are very competitive and much cheaper than the Ibiza super clubs, and the drinks on offer are also much better, with the usual spirits and mixers, and the ability to buy pints!
